Four decades of joinery, under one roof
No outsourcing, no production line — just one master craftsman and a reverence for the material, in a workshop nestled in the pines of Coeur d'Alene.

Paul Pidskalny, Master Craftsman
Owned and operated by Paul Pidskalny, The Joinery reflects one craftsman's standard. A graduate of the renowned North Bennet Street School in Boston, Paul brings more than four decades of experience in custom woodworking design, build, and finishes.
From the initial design consult to the completion of installation, Paul personally manages each and every project — bringing a fine design sense, hand-selected woods, and superb craftsmanship to every piece. Design details, hardware, and finishes are always open to selection, and The Joinery encourages collaboration with its clients throughout the entire job.
Making custom furniture and cabinetry to order doesn't just detail craftsmanship — it ensures the wood is on display in every facet. Hand work is a critical component of every piece. In his spare time, Paul turns and carves, for the love of the craft.
A reputation built on craftsmanship
The Joinery's reputation is one of quality craftsmanship and distinctive styling — the sense and expertise of its owner in every piece.
Traditional methods
Joints, finishes, and hand work done the way fine furniture has always been made — for strength that lasts generations.
Hand-selected wood
Every board is chosen by hand so the grain is on full display — the material always treated with reverence.
One craftsman, start to finish
The person who designs your piece is the person who builds it — and follows up on the details long after install.

The kitchen artfully weds the hand-hewn logs and custom cabinetry. Paul carved, distressed, and added a glazed finish to all of the woodwork, cabinets, and vanities. In the lighter-colored alder, his crew even carved worm holes to add a primitive feel.
Paul was really an artist disguising himself as a high-quality custom woodworker and cabinetmaker. We are blessed that Paul agreed to meet with us — his vision in interpreting our ideas was the single most important element in achieving them.
Let's make something that lasts.
Bring Paul your ideas — a kitchen, a built-in, or a piece of furniture you've always wanted — and we'll design and build it together.
